"I have been meaning to e-mail you and thank you for writing the
Weight Loss God's Way course. I am nearly at the end of week 3, and
my thinking has changed so dramatically it's unbelievable!
"When I saw your e-mail asking the four questions, I thought it would
be a good opportunity to thank you, so here are my answers:-
1 - How you like what I've sent you so far.
"I am enjoying reading the e-mails you have sent and think that they
compIement the course very well. As for the course, I think it's
wonderful! I always knew that the problems were in my thinking,
because I have read about diet and nutrition until it comes out of
my ears - I knew all the facts, but I just kept sabotaging myself
:-(
"BUT now I
know much more clearly what I want and what I don't want, and this
is helping me make MUCH better food choices, and I can walk past
shelves full of chocolate now and just ignore it! Of course I still
like chocolate and
have still eaten some over the last few weeks, but occasionally and
in moderation, something I could never do before (I could easily eat
four bars one after the other) I have lost 6 lbs, and unlike other
times, this time I KNOW it's staying off, and the other 17 lbs I
need to lose
will come off too.

2 - What you would like to hear more (or less) about.

I think the balance is just right. I have found the emails and the
lessons very interesting to read so far.
3 - Where you might be stuck in your own weight loss efforts.
"I don't feel stuck at the moment, but pitfalls that have caught me
out before have been days when I just don't feel like cooking, when
we would end up getting high-fat take-out food. Also, when people
offer me unhealthy food, I have found it hard to refuse. I think
this will change now though, as I am learning to value myself so
much more, so that refusing the food politely is an option for me
now. Also over the last few weeks, I have learned to have a small
portion of something and really enjoy it, knowing I am not going to
put weight on.
4 - What one piece of information might be able to change your life
if you had it.
"Some good self-talk to use on myself when I want to eat some
chocolate or high-fat food just because I'm feeling rebellious and
want to do what I like. Looking at this now, it is obviously a
self-sabotaging behaviour, but at the time it does not feel that
way.

1 - How you like what I've sent you so far.
"I believe this is one of the greatest gifts God has ever given me. I
love that you approach this from body, mind and spirit. I've done
other Christian diets but this isn't just about the weight. So far,
my greatest transformation has been spiritual. I've just finished
week 3 and it's been painful and joyful. I've dug up some stuff I
thought I had already dealt with but apparently hadn't.
2 - What you would like to hear more (or less) about.
"Deservability. I always thought, in spite of my obesity, that I had
great self esteem. However, when you make self esteem and
deservability synonymous, I find I don't. I struggle with setting
goals that include wealth and abundance. My mind sees Scripture full
of promises but I can't seem to get it in my heart.
3 - Where you might be stuck in your own weight loss efforts.
"I'm having trouble keeping track of calories and portions. I'm doing
well waiting until I'm hungry but then I eat too much too fast. It's
getting better but I need to work harder on that. I'm also a big TV
eater so I'm working on watching less TV. Some days are great
successes, others aren't quite as good. I'm also struggling with the
exercising.
"I weigh
_____ pounds so exercising isn't a breeze. When
the weather gets warmer, I'll be swimming every day, but right now,
I'm finding it hard to find the time or the motivation - my knees
aren't in great shape so I really don't like the pain.
4 - What one piece of information might be able to change your life
if you had it.
"I really deserve everything I want.
"Thank you, Dr. Smoot, for letting God use you in my life and in the
lives of so many. I've shared it with a number of my friends - some
believers, some not. I believe you have given me not only a
life-changing vehicle by showing me what God already shared in His
Word about my body, soul and spirit, but you've given me a great
tool to share Jesus with others.
